- O. Hoeber, X. D. Yang, Interactive Web Information Retrieval Using Graphical Word Indicators, U.S. Patent No. 7,788,261 (issued Aug. 31, 2010)
- O. Hoeber, X. D. Yang, Y. Yao, Method and Apparatus for Concept-Based Visual Presentation of Search Results. U.S. Patent No. 7,809,717 (issued Oct. 5, 2010).
Patent applications were submitted simultaneously in Canada and the United States. The Canadian patents are still pending. The middle two patents form the core of HotMap Web Search, a visual and interactive method for exploring Web search results.
